As a child I was dragged to every, or so it seemed, church in England. I can still vividly recall the moment when I was enchanted by light streaming through jewels of glass. The spell lay dormant for many years as I vainly studied chemistry, geophysics, glacial geology and wetlands. Then one day, I decided to take a class in stained glass ... and found my calling. The one constant in my life is my love of the natural world, which is now expressed in glass. I use a wide range of techniques to evoke the natural world. Recently, I have been bewitched by flameworking which allows me to have fluid calligraphic lines within my work.
Each piece I make is a unique or very limited
edition work of art. It may combine many techniques
including: flameworking, painting, fusing, sandblasting,
dichroic laminating, metal leaf and copper foil
or lead came. |
